Budget airlines like Ryanair offer flights for $20 to $50 but charge extra for luggage. Renting a car is another option, costing $30 to $70 per day, but you’ll also need to pay for fuel and parking.

Food and Dining

Food costs can vary. In Western Europe, a meal can cost $15 to $25; in Eastern Europe, it’s cheaper, about $5 to $15 per meal. Eating at local markets, street food stalls, or cooking your own meals can save money. Look for affordable eateries to keep costs down.

How Much Does a One Month Long Europe Tour Cost From Bangladesh?

Remembering the factors we mentioned will help but here is something even better. With permission, we have written down the total amount a couple spent during their recent European tour.

Their tour took them to Amsterdam, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Mostar, Sarajevo, Zagreb, Vienna, Budapest and Belgium. They spent multiple days in each location. Their final cost counted all flights, trains, accommodations, food, museums, souvenirs, and other miscellaneous items.

They spent $2,523/person or $5,047 in total. This equals around BDT 296596.82 per person or BDT 593311.19 in total.

Accommodations

For their month-long trip, they chose to stay in Airbnb. This choice gave them a reliable place to work, cook, do laundry, and sleep. Airbnb turned out to be more economical for two people than hostels, which can be pricier for couples since they would need separate beds.

They spent $733 per person for the entire month, totaling $1,466. On average, it cost them $27.50 per person per night, which was slightly higher than their initial goal of $20 per night. Being a bit flexible helped them enjoy last-minute experiences. However, they tried to stay within their budget as much as possible.

Hostels are often conveniently located, but finding a centrally located Airbnb took some effort. Despite this, they managed to find places close to the activities they wanted to do. They stayed in entire apartments, except for their last night in Amsterdam, where they rented a private room in someone's home.

Here are the average costs per night for two people renting an entire home on Airbnb, including all fees and taxes:

  • Amsterdam: $136

  • Barcelona: $124

  • Dubrovnik: $89

  • Mostar: $48

  • Sarajevo: $48

  • Zagreb: $53

  • Vienna: $81

  • Budapest: $52

They found Airbnb to be a great option for those who don't need the guaranteed amenities of hotels. Many Airbnbs provided coffee makers, kitchens, washing machines, and a homey feel. Airbnb hosts benefit from providing excellent service because all stays require publicly available guest reviews. Many hosts take pride in their homes and strive to make each stay pleasant. They had many good experiences using Airbnb and highly recommend it.

Transportation

They rely on ITS Holidays Ltd. for great deals on international airfare. Sometimes, the airline mistakes the prices, so you need to book quickly before they are corrected. But with ITS Holidays Ltd., the chances of that happening is zero.

They bought round-trip tickets for $606 per person, normally costing $1,200. This saved them $1,188 and allowed them to add more to their "fun" budget.

For domestic travel within Europe, they spent $355 per person on trains, flights, and buses. They decided not to get the Eurail pass because it didn’t cover Eastern Europe and wasn’t cost-effective for them. They suggest calculating costs ahead of time to see if the Eurail pass is worth it for you. In their case, buying tickets separately was cheaper. They purchased tickets a few days in advance or on the day of travel. While planning a month ahead could save more money, it can also be complicated.

Food

During their month-long trip, they aimed to cook more than eat out and cooking meals helped them manage their energy better while exploring new cities. They enjoyed shopping at local stores and markets, basing their meals on available fruits, veggies, and spices.

When they did eat out, they carefully chose restaurants and bars to ensure an authentic experience with quality food and good service. Typically, they ate out once a day and prepared other meals at home or grabbed something light to go. They also included trying local beers, wines, and liquors in their budget.

Food is essential to their travel experience, connecting them with the culture. They spent $509 per person on this trip, totaling $1,019 on food and drinks. They spent $311 per person at restaurants, totaling $623, and $198 per person on groceries, totaling $396.

Adventures & Souvenirs

Each person spent $292 on tours, museums, and adventures during their trip, totaling $584. They aimed to visit one or two museums and tour each city. They also sought out unique or outdoor activities specific to the area they were visiting.

To save money, they became skilled at spotting tourist traps, which are often expensive and not unique. They advised caution with attractions that are not special to the location, as prices for these can be inflated. Asking locals for recommendations or getting tips from walking tour guides helped them avoid such traps. Remember to tip the guide if the tour is free.
